In an important step taken by the Katsina State Government through the Katsina State Business Development Agency (KASEDA), it signed an agreement with SMEDAN National Small Business Administration to provide loans easy payment of one billion naira for small businessmen in Katsina state. What makes this loan different from the others is the low interest rate of only 9%, which makes it the easiest loan especially for small and medium enterprises.
The MoU was officially signed on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the SMEDAN headquarters in Idu, Abuja. Those who signed the agreement were Mr. Charles Odii, Director-General of SMEDAN, and Mrs. Aisha Aminu, Director-General of Katsina State Small and Medium Industries Development Agency.
The Matching Fund Program is a joint program between SMEDAN and the Katsina State Government that will provide loan support to small businesses in Katsina State with large financial debts. Katsina State Government and SMEDAN will each give five hundred million Naira (N500,000,000). For the first quarter of 2024, N250m will be disbursed to small business owners.
Givernor's media aide isah miqda said:
"Governor Radda, when he made meaningful speeches, explained the commitment of his government to promote the development of the country by providing the development of small businesses and the way to improve financial affairs."
He added that, Governor Dikko Radda emphasized the important contribution of small and medium industries in the development of the country and their role as mediators in the economic agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also explained the hard work of the Katsina State Small and Medium Industries Development Agency and stressed the importance of collaborating with SMEDAN in creating jobs and revitalizing the economy.
