In a potential shake-up within the President Bola Tinubu administration, Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Bako Lalong, is reportedly on the verge of resigning from his position just a few months after his appointment, according to reliable sources as reported by LEADERSHIP.

The inclination for this significant move surfaced on Thursday as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially presented a Certificate of Return to Lalong, affirming him as the rightful winner of the Plateau South senatorial election. This follows a Court of Appeal ruling that nullified the participation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its senatorial candidate, Napoleon Bali, in the February 25 National Assembly elections for Plateau South Senatorial District. The court cited the party's refusal to comply with a lawful order as grounds for the nullification.

Credible sources indicate that Lalong, having considered his options, has decided to step down from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to assume his role as the elected Senator representing Plateau South in the 10th Senate.
