Federal Government Plans Evacuation of Displaced Nigerians from Neighbouring Countries

The Federal Government has announced its intention to initiate the process of evacuating displaced Nigerians currently seeking refuge in neighbouring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger Republic. These refugees consist of thousands of Nigerians who were affected by the Boko Haram insurgency and sought shelter in neighboring countries during the peak of the crisis.

The disclosure of this plan came from Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI). Alhaji Tijjani revealed the government's intentions after a meeting with Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, at the Government House in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Thursday.

The move to evacuate displaced Nigerians reflects a commitment to addressing the humanitarian consequences of the Boko Haram insurgency and facilitating the return of affected individuals to their home country. The government's collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including state governments, is crucial in ensuring a coordinated and effective repatriation process.
