Troops Uncover Gun Manufacturing Syndicate and Seize Weapons in Kaduna State

 - In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address security concerns in Kaduna State, troops of Operation Safe Haven have arrested a gun manufacturing syndicate and confiscated 26 weapons from them. This operation was carried out with the aim of curbing illegal arms production and reducing the proliferation of weapons in the region.

Captain Oya James, the media officer for the Special Military Taskforce, announced this achievement in a statement released in Jos. The statement highlighted the commitment of Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, to decisively deal with crime sponsors and perpetrators, as well as to eliminate illegal weapons from the OPSH Joint Operations Area.

The statement provided details of the operation, stating, "Troops have uncovered a gun manufacturing factory in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State." The suspect involved in the illegal gun manufacturing confessed to the crime and cooperated with the troops, leading them to the concealed factory where various caliber firearms were being produced.

Additionally, another individual named Monday Dunia was apprehended during the operation. Dunia confessed to being involved in the illegal arms trade for over five years, exacerbating the crisis in Kaduna and neighboring Plateau states. His arrest is a significant step in dismantling the illegal arms network that has contributed to insecurity in the region.

This operation underscores the determination of security forces to combat the illicit arms trade and improve the security situation in Kaduna State. By dismantling such syndicates and seizing illegal weapons, authorities aim to create a safer environment for residents and reduce the potential for armed conflicts and criminal activities.
