Ogun State Local Government Chairman Arrested After Accusing Governor of Fund Diversion

Wale Adedayo, the chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, has been arrested by the police following a petition allegedly filed against him by the State Government. This arrest comes after Adedayo accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting local government funds.

In his petition, Adedayo had called for an investigation into the governor's alleged diversion of local government funds. However, Governor Abiodun vehemently denied the accusations, stating that he had always carried out his responsibilities as the governor with utmost sincerity.

In response to the allegations and petition, Adedayo was suspended by seven councillors from his local government council. He was also reportedly held and interrogated by the State Command of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Abeokuta for three days.

Additionally, Adedayo claimed to have been impeached on September 14 by five out of eleven councillors in the local government legislative council.

On Monday, Adedayo announced his arrest via a Facebook post, expressing his readiness to face the situation. He wrote, "Son of man is being taken to Ogun State Police CID at Eleweran, Abeokuta. They claim the State Government wrote a petition against me. If it is death, I follow the path of the Patriarchs. Ase di owo Olodumare!"
