Nigerian House of Representatives to Resume Session on September 26, 2023

The Nigerian House of Representatives is set to reconvene after its annual recess on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. The announcement was made through a correspondence sent to members by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, on Friday.

A statement issued by Akin Rotimi, Jr., the House spokesman and Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, highlighted the legislative achievements of the 10th Assembly during its first 100 days since inauguration. The statement noted that the Assembly had been highly productive, with 470 bills passing the first reading and four bills passing the second reading. Additionally, the House considered a total of 175 motions during this period.

Despite the recess, the Green Chamber, as the House of Representatives is often called, continued to operate effectively. Various ad hoc committees continued to carry out their essential mandates, generating significant public interest in their work. Furthermore, members of the House actively engaged in constituency outreaches across the country during the recess.
