Oyo State Governor Initiates Distribution of Palliatives to 200,000 Households

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has kicked off the distribution of essential relief packages to 200,000 households as part of the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative. The relief packages include 40,000 bags of rice, along with beans, garri, elubo (yam flour), and vegetable oil. The governor inaugurated the distribution in Oyo town, emphasizing the importance of a methodical approach to ensure sustainable economic recovery for the state. Governor Makinde explained that his administration didn't rush into distributing the palliatives but rather took the time to meticulously plan and implement actions that would effectively secure the state's economy. He pointed out that although the Federal Government had initially provided 3,000 bags of rice, the state recognized that this quantity would be insufficient if divided among the targeted 200,000 households. Acknowledging this shortfall, the state government proceeded to purchase an additional 37,000 bags of rice, bringing the total to 40,000 bags. This strategic decision enables each of the 200,000 identified poorest households to receive a 10kg bag of rice, along with 5kg bags of beans, garri, elubo, and a bottle of oil. Governor Makinde's focus on a comprehensive and sustainable approach to economic recovery and support for the most vulnerable segments of the population highlights his commitment to mitigating the challenges posed by various socio-economic factors.
