Emefiele Pursues Plea Bargain with Government, Delaying Court Arraignment"

  1. Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has allegedly opted for a plea bargain strategy, leading to a postponement in his court arraignment.

Insider sources suggest that both Emefiele and his co-accused, Saadat Yaro, are considering a plea bargain arrangement with the Federal Government.

The suspended CBN Governor and Yaro face a 20-count charge of alleged contract inflation and breach of procurement laws amounting to N6.9 billion.

Despite the scheduled arraignment in a Federal Capital Territory High Court, it was noticeably absent from the court's cause list. Additionally, neither Emefiele nor Yaro was present, and legal representatives were also absent.
