Child Abuse Horror: Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping His Own Six-Year-Old Daughter in Akwa Ibom

The police in Akwa Ibom State have apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting his six-year-old daughter. The suspect, identified as Sunday Ben and residing at Aka Itiam Etoi in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, was taken into custody on July 31st following the report of the incident to the authorities.

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Olatoye Durosinmi, addressed reporters on Wednesday at the police headquarters in Uyo, providing details about the arrest and the investigation. According to Mr. Durosinmi, the suspect had initially taken his daughter from her mother's care to his own residence. However, the following day, upon returning the child to her mother, bloodstains and injuries were discovered on her private area. The victim was subsequently subjected to a medical examination, which confirmed the presence of obvious signs of sexual assault.

The commissioner elaborated on the police's successful actions during the months of July and August, including the arrest of the alleged perpetrator. The incident highlights the gravity of child abuse and the urgent need for legal action against those responsible. The police's swift response in apprehending the suspect showcases the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable members of society, especially children.
